Tables use metal ball bearing cable-assisted metal slides. the leveling pins are metal with male and female fittings. Window sash locks are used to lock leaves into half tops. Inside edges of tables where the leveling pins are at have a long groove along the edge for gap contraction space.

• CR uses the highest standard in industry with 1mm thick HPL (high pressure laminate) layered surface. It is pressed on high density particleboard or MDF with balance of laminate on bottom. 
• Laminate can stand heat to up to 300 degrees F. Not bullet proof but can withstand minor scratches from dishware. Once scratched with sharp utensil, it cannot be fixed.
• When placing leaves in and out, but careful not to hit edges or metal levelers onto top surface of laminate which can chip edges.

• Tables use a metal ball bearing cable assisted metal slides. 
• Metal ball bearing cable slides glide better and more stable than wooden slides.
• Wooden slides can expand or shrink due to relative humidity in homes, which can get stuck or hard to open and close

• The leveling pins are metal with male and female fittings for more accurate alignment with leaf and half tops.
• Chromcraft uses between 5-6 on each edge to ensure the alignment. Most common tables just use 4.

• Window sash locks are used to lock leaves into half tops. The locks pull on a cam driven spring to tighten joints. 

• Inside edges of tables where the leveling pins are located at have a long groove along edge. This is for gap contraction space on the bottom inside edge of leaves and half tops. The gap on bottom is 3mm for allowance of contraction.
• This is also a WOODEN lumber band which holds the metal leveling pins secure better. However, wood can expand or shrink due to weather conditions. Most common tables have exposed particle board or MDF core exposing more potential of deformation in size. Especially getting wet when cleaning off table tops. With solid wood, these joints can still contract. Extreme weather humidity can still open up joints. One reason Chromcraft places a groove on the bottom edge to help some of the conditions. 
• However, we cannot guarantee the gap of joint will always be perfect. Wood can still contract or expand. The tolerance when leaving factory is no larger than a credit card thickness.
